dr on silver and gold
I like to use silver and gold in combination. The two metals bring different qualities, textures and colour contrast to my jewelry. I use different carats of gold, either 14 or 18 to get a richer gold colour. The cool white of silver and the wramth of the gold provide a richness and a responsiveness which challenges and stimulates my ideas. Sometimes I use other metals like nickel. It has a kind of darkness that intrigues me. But it’s a tough metal to use and I use it infrequently. My use of other metals and materials is specific to a piece or to an idea. My more ritualistic and primitive pieces incorporate rubber, leather and horsehair.
